Mary Jeanne Kneen is the founder and principal of Au Coin du Feu, Ltd. As a businesswoman with a penchant for European style and culture, Mrs. Kneen established Au Coin du Feu with a profound appreciation for the historical significance and fine craftsmanship of antique objects.
After spending several years abroad, primarily in Germany, Mrs. Kneen sought to bring a sense of European history to the U.S. Her vision has established Au Coin du Feu as the country’s best source for antique fireplace enhancements for the home.
Today, Au Coin du Feu offers the most extensive collection of antique European surrounds available in the U.S. Additionally, her exclusive stock of accessories, flooring and decorative items allow Au Coin du Feu to bring artistry and beauty from vastly different eras into today’s homes.
Mrs. Kneen insists on superb quality, authenticity and functionality. Her intention is to create any look a client desires, including mixing old with new. The result is always captivating in its sense of history and style, a story uniquely retold.
Mrs. Kneen also serves as President, Nymphenburg Store USA. As the only showroom outside of Germany, Nymphenburg Store USA markets the largest inventory available of exquisite Nymphenburg porcelain products throughout North America. Nymphenburg, which was established in Germany in 1747, is considered by many to be the finest porcelain in the world.
Born in Michigan, Mrs. Kneen lives in Chicago with her husband and two daughters. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she studied Political Science and History. She is fluent in German, French and conversational in Dutch. Mrs. Kneen is a member of the Antiquarian Society and serves on the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago. Not surprisingly, she travels extensively to Europe, where she continues to derive inspiration and appreciation for the European lifestyle. |
